TuneShout
TuneShout is the first community-controlled website exclusively dedicated to indie artists and listeners.
The internet is continuing to fundamentally change the way the music industry operates. Sales of CDs are lowering year after year, while online downloads of MP3s are continuing to go up. Yet despite the assumed "democratic" influences the internet would have on the music industry, removing money and the controlling record labels from the equation, the online music industry is still influenced by the same money and power the old model was.
Unhappy with the aforementioned state of online music, Jeff and his friend and business partner Joshua decided to focus on the harnessing the viral growth of music by creating TuneShout. Josh and Jeff have worked on several entrepreneurial projects together over a span of eight years, and wanted to combine their forces once again for a really killer project. And with the help of Lauren, they've created the first version of tuneshout.com
TuneShout features members of the GLUEinteractive team working completely outside of their normal consulting roles, fully under the TuneShout umbrella. Jeff is responsible all of the web and content development, including the initial planning & information architecture, database development, web design & web development. Lauren tackled the content creation, copywriting & community building.
We're currently planning and building TuneShout version 2, working at a local level to help independent musicians grow and connect directly to their audience. Version 2 will orchestrate multiple social networks and mobile devices into a single platform, striving to be the online hub for regional music communities.
